Diigo

http://www.diigo.com is a website designed to help users collect, annotate, organize, and share bookmarks. You can register for an account at the site. (It's free). Your Lists of bookmarks can be marked as Private or Public.

As you start using Diigo, you'll find you need to download the Digolet (instructions are on the site). (You could download the Diigo toolbar on a home computer). This will place the Digolet in your Favorites folder. Each time you find a site to bookmark, clicking the Digolet shortcut will bring up a toolbar for you.

If you join Diigo, look me up and make me one of your Friends. That way, you can look at my bookmarks and lists. You can also join Groups that have similar interests.

One feature of Diigo that sets it apart from other bookmarking sites is that users can view their Lists (or share them) via a slideshow that shows the homepage of the bookmarked sites. This homepage is live, so you can click your way directly to the site.

As an option, after you have a 1st account, you can register for an educator account, which would let you set up your class with access. Students could then work from your lists of websites and/or create group lists of sites with annotations.
